Swing low.

My heart broke a little. You know that one that got away? The one person you ask yourself "what might've been" ... "if only?" I'm having one of those days today and the heart is especially heavy. So alas, today is a good day for a Madea reflection. I've been citing this one film since blogging, yes, there will be more references in the future from different films, but so far it has been a gold mine for what I've needed to express. While the heart is heavy at hearing the boy who was my meant to be, but didn't turn out to be went ahead and got himself a girl pregnant and is doing right by her by marrying her, I can't help but wonder. That shoulda been me. So for some comedic relief, I'm doing what a brokenhearted gal would do, an ponder the thought of what his child may look like. Unfortunately my mind knows my heart too well and we are now resigned to make fun. It's a masque people. I'd like to YAH TRICK her. But perhaps if their baby can fly, the YAH may not be necessary. lolz.

"Woo, boy. What the hell is that? [thats my baby] And you proud of it? Lord have mercy. Aint never seen no child look like this. He just look old. Make me wanna just break out in song. '....Swing low....'. [He look just like Byron] Child you know this child look nothing human. Stop that now. [You know what?] Karen look here. I told you we havin a private family moment you gone come up here with all that noise. Now take this child go outside and talk to that man like you got some sense...." "MADEA!"
"what, that baby can fly, hell, look at it"

U DUM AS HELL

In light of my fading sanity due to customer service for college folk, this image and saying of Madea's has come to mind. I'm 24. Most my friends are in their twenties. Some are so dumb as hell. I don't see much of a bridge over the gap from teen to twenties. Madea knows her stuff. 22 is not grown. Legal, not grown. So damn stupid with the age to make 'em feel like an adult. Most of these college folk I'm working for or deal with day in and day out...  so dumb. Madea put it best:

"22 is not grown. It is legal but it ain't grown. And until you get somewhere around 39 and 40 you not even going to understand how stupid you were at 22-years-old." [well in my book its grown] "How old are you honey?" [22 as well]  "You're dumb as hell as well too!"

I've devised a plan.

I always feel so.. I can't exactly figure the word to articulate the feeling, but I always feel better after watching a movie with Madea in it. Under the make up, under the facade, Tyler Perry is an incredibly inspiring and amazing man. His words of wisdom that come through the character of Madea are ones that shouldn't be taken lightly. I always feel inspired somehow, or at the very least hopeful and positive about the future or even the outcome of my day. It's easy to feel all hopped up and good about your fellow man while enthralled and captivated by a Madea moment. It's when you walk away and into the real world that the Madea message can quickly be forgotten. I work in academics, not career wise, more like my stepping stone until I get where I wanna be in life. I'm a verbal and emotional bag for people to punch all day, all while I still try to genuinely smile and give them service I know I appreciate having. A smile can go so far to some people, I know I've received kindess on days or in moments where I was anything but pleasant, and it's always been a lasting impact. Therefore, at the very least, instead of snap on them and give what was received, I try and do right. However, after the smile fades, and the day comes to an end, I often really wish I could just YAH TRICK.

Thanks Madea. The smiles back.
